Abstract: The objective of the presented studies was to find adolescents’ social
development determinants from the family perspective. The obtained results enabled
the description of family-related and social developmental factors that affected the
formation of the aggressor or victim role in late adolescence. For that purpose, two
groups of family variables were identified. The first group included independent and
static variables shaping the socio-economic status of the family (parents’ education,
material status, number of siblings), while the second group pertained to the patterns of
attachment to each parent (dynamic family variables). A dependent variable was the style
of social functioning in the aggressor or victim role. The research tools were the Inventory
of Parent and Peer Attachment–IPPA, the Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire and
Mini–DIA. The sample of the first study consisted of 160 adolescents aged 16 to 19. The
results have revealed that attachment is a significant determinant for persons involved
in perpetration or victimization. The resulting “determinant bundles” may provide useful
information to those working with adolescents and their families.

Resumen: El objetivo de los estudios presentados era encontrar los determinantes del
desarrollo social de los adolescentes desde la perspectiva de la familia. Los resultados
obtenidos permitieron describir los factores de desarrollo familiar y social que influyeron
en la formación del papel de agresor o víctima en la adolescencia tardía. Para ello se
identificaron dos grupos de variables familiares. El primer grupo incluía variables
independientes y estáticas que conformaban la situación socioeconómica de la familia
(educación de los padres, situación material, número de hermanos), mientras que el
segundo grupo se refería a las pautas de apego a cada uno de los padres (variables
familiares dinámicas). Una variable dependiente era el estilo de funcionamiento social
en el papel de agresor o víctima. Las herramientas de investigación fueron el Inventario
de Adscripciones de Padres y Compañeros-IPPA, el Cuestionario de Agresión de Buss-
Perry y el Mini-DIA. La muestra del primer estudio consistió en 160 adolescentes de
