España recibe con espera nza la llega da de la S egunda República en la prim avera de
1931. Inauguradas la s primeras Cortes, se const ituye la Comisión parlamentari a redactora
de un proyecto constitucional, cuyo a rt. 34 admite la ig ualdad de derechos electorales
entre sexos. Entre sus integ rantes sobresale l a abogada Cl ara Campoamor, Diput ada por
Madrid por el Partido Radical, y t enaz defensora del voto femenino en las Cortes frente a
la corriente antisufragista de Vict oria Kent. La aprobación por las Constituyentes del voto
de la mujer (1 de octubre de 1931) supone un hito en el reconocimiento de la an siada
igualdad de géneros , básica en un sistema democrático.

Spain receives hopefully the a rrival of the Second Republic in the spring of 1931.
Inaugurat ed the first Spanish Parl iament, there constitutes the parlia mentary C ommis-
sion editor of a const itutional project, which ar t. 34 admits the equality of electoral r ights
between sexes. Between his members there stands out the lawyer Cla ra Campoamor,
Delegated by Madr id by the Radical party, and tena cious defender of the feminine vote
in the Sp anish Pa rliament opposite to the current ant isuffragist of Victoria Kent. T he
approval for the Constituent ones of the vote of t he woman (October 1, 1931) supposes a
milestone in the recog nition of the longed equality of ki nds, basic in a democratic sy stem.
