Isabel HERNANDO, Professor of Law at the University of the Basque Country and project leader of R&D projects in Computer and Information Technology Law since 1985, is the founder of LEGALTEK a law firm specialising in Information Technology, Computers, Audiovisuals and Communications. The law Firm covers the whole spectrum of this field (Internet and other on-line services, e-commerce agreements, strategic partnering arrangements, trade mark and domain name, patents, intellectual property, contracts for the acquisitions of information systems and other advanced technology services and products, webhosting, website developments, advertising and communications, privacy, consumer protection, litigation in the civil, commercial and criminal courts involving advanced technologies and business) and serves as special information technology counsel for both private and public sector clients.

Ms HERNANDO is a member of the Legal Advisory Board of DG XIII of the European Commission since 1992, Vice - Chair of Subcommittee R6 (Protection of Technology and information) of the International Bar Association and a member of the Computer Law Association.

She is the author of books on Computer Contracts (1995), on Intellectual Property and Multimedia Products (1997) and her many national and international publications include: 'Product Liability', Spanish chapter (Lloyds of London press, 1993); 'Data Transmission and Privacy', Spanish chapter ( Kluwer 1994); 'Computer Law', Spanish chapter, (Transnational Iuris Publications, 1996); 'Data Protection', Spanish chapter (Mattew Bender, 1999); 'Privacy, Publicity and Personality', Spanish chapter (Butterworths, 2000).
