Abstract: The article gives an explanation of the political content of the idea of Social State and its development in the European democracies, related to other concepts of different meaning like the welfare state. The inclusion of the European supranational space sets out, basically from 2006, a complex relationship between the European economic and financial space and its social aspect regarding the implementation of the model of Social State in the inner Constitutions. It is a complex evolution between both aspects which produces a tension between both spheres in the frame of a variable result "interconstitutional integration". This outlook has been changed radically for the outlying countries of South Europe from emission of mechanisms of financial and budgetary stability as a consequence of the austerity policies.
