RESUMEN
El propósito del presente estudio es el análisis de los efectos del Brexit sobre el negocio ma-
rítimo y de manera particular y especialmente relevante sobre el sector asegurador y sobre el
arbitraje marítimo, que tienen en Londres una de sus principales sedes, a través de la LMAA
(London Maritime Arbitration Association), centro arbitral de referencia obligada por todos los
navieros y aseguradores del mundo. La relevancia del arbitraje en Londres se produce esencial-
mente en dos ámbitos muy relevantes en materia de pólizas de fletamento (Charter Parties)
normalmente emitidas por BIMCO y usualmente sujetas al derecho inglés (under english law
and practice law) y contratos de transporte marítimo, que son utilizadas a nivel mundial. El
otro gran espacio lo constituyen los contratos de salvamento, especialmente el conocido LOF
(Lloyd´s Open Form 2011).

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to analyse the effects of Brexit on the maritime business and in a
particularly relevant way on the insurance sector and on maritime arbitration, which has one of
its main venues in London, through the LMAA (London Maritime Arbitration Association), a ref-
erence arbitration center required by all shipping and insurance companies in the world. The rel-
evance of arbitration in London is essentially in two very relevant areas in terms of charter parties
normally issued by BIMCO and usually subject to English law (under English law and practice law)
and maritime transport contracts, which are used worldwide. The other big space is the salvage
contracts, especially the well-known LOF (Lloyd’s Open Form 2011).
